I recently completed what i call a puffy quilt for a church raffle...contained over 600 squares... I found this quilt started in some of my mothers sewing after she passed and completed her's. This is what gave me the idea for the church raffle. It also cleans out your scraps, has an old time look and is so warm for those cold winter nights. I seldom use a pattern for my quits, just start and see where it takes me.

I made a biscuit quilt for a queen sized bed. 576 different fabrics. Keep cutting you're 76 short. The quilt ia almost to warm to use.

I love doing placements! Uses 12 - 5 inch squares for each one, set 4 x 3. Make them into sets by having the borders and backings match for each 4, or 6 , or 8, how ever many in your set. I have done lots of them; they are favorites of those I give them to. Include napkins, too made of border and back fabric, or something that coordinates.

This is your answer. Always good to have a stash of 5" squares laying around your quilting room. So many good uses, not enough time to use them all!

Or get any one of the "Nickle QUilt" books by Pat Speth. My favorite is "More Nickel Quilts: 20 New Designs from 5-Inch Squares". A nickle quilt uses 5" blocks. I really did cut thousands from recycled shirts and used these books. Also visit the Moda bake shop for free charm pack patterns. Lots out there!

Thank you ladies for all your input and have decided...to make a puff quilt queen size. Have never made one and I live in WI so I have about hmmm 8 months to get it done. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
