Self binding a king size quilt?
 

I am adding the quilted borders separately to the main part of the quilt and I have enough to self bind from the front to the back. I'll add the binding on before I add the borders to the quilt and this would be so easy. A little tricky on the corners but much easier than putting binding on a big quilt. Will self binding be ok on a big quilt?

Can't see why it wouldn't work. I've only done it on smaller ones but can't see why the size would matter.

Self binding works on any quilt. It was the first method of binding that I learned because that`s the way my MIL did it and for a long time I didn`t realize that there were other ways. I still use it for utility quilts or the drag around ones the kids use.

i've never done that but i'd like to try. our senior group wanted to do our latest that way, but one side was just too narrow.

I've never seen it done from the front to the back, usually it's the backing that is brought to the front. Hope you'll post a picture with your results.

I don't understand this and need a further explanation. Is self binding just having enough fabric to turn over the edge of the quilt and sew down, usually from the back to the front and it looks like binding?

I am not understanding the description of what you are doing and would like to learn more.
