if a quilt block is out of place, i have to fix it before quilting the quilt

Measure twice, cut once. Swear....... measure again, cut again..........

Fix any twisted seams if found while pressing the back. Stitch around the edge of a top to keep any seam ends from unstitching. Put a knot in my thread every so often when I hand stitching my binding to the quilt back.

Set my seams, press as I go & starch, points need to meet as much as possible (THIS is where I struggle)

I won't let myself start a quilt until I finish the one I am on. I wish this wasn't my rule, but it is. I actually envy those of you who have several projects going at once. Just can't do it. I can, however, "think" about the next quilt when I start putting binding on the current quilt.

I guess those are two rules.....:) Luckily, I am happy with them.

Square up pieces and parts before adding to them with the next round, block or row. "Squaring As You Go"? :D

I don't have any rules that I don't make up as I go along.

I also can only work on one quilt at a time. I have the plans and fabric for several quilts waiting for me to start them though. I can start on the next quilt if the first one is at the quilters. Now with knitting, I have about 10 projects cast on and in projects bags and I'm not bothered by them at all.

When I start a new quilt I have to clean my sewing room. I don't have to clean anything when working on a garment though. I just shove fabric out of the way and sew.

I also wind about 4-5 bobbins before I start a quilt.

I'm only rule-oriented in my quilting room when it comes to my iron. I'm paranoid about something catching fire, so I am always making sure nothing is near it--no plastic, no aerosol, no paper. It has auto-shut off, but I don't trust even that. I make sure it's off when I leave the room.
