Wednesday, Sept. 14th is Senior Citizen Discount Day at JoAnn's. Receive a 20% discount on total purchase (includes sale priced items). I'm not 60, but I have been known to scout-out the bus stops for a senior when DH is not available. He loves going to JoAnn's on Senior Day. :-(

Seriously? Bus stops (rofl)?

Grama Lehr 09-12-2011 08:25 AM

I'm old enough to remember when 55 was eligible for senior discounts. You watch, I'll make it to sixty and they'll up the age.

Bus stops, senior centers, Beefcarver restaurant (before 4pm), social security office, and bingo halls (around 5pm), seniors love getting there early.

I've done my homework...because my day is coming. :P

This is hilarious. Yrs. ago I happened to be shopping at our thrift store, Value Village, when the clerk asked if I was a senior. I asked what the senior age was & when she said 50 it happened to be my 50th birthday that day. No kidding. It really was. Of course that was more than a cpl. of yrs. ago. There really are advantages to aging. LOL

I'll have to tell my mom!

Well, I qualify!! YIPPEE!! I also have a VIP Discount Card for JoAnns with AQS membership...can I use that too? That would be a great bonus!!

Tweety2911 09-12-2011 03:34 PM

I didn't know they had senior day discount. Thanks for the info and will have to make a stop.

ging10ging 09-12-2011 06:01 PM

i'm allowed to be a senior at 65 i guess. i also have the 10% card but they just always find a way around my using it. i have been thinking of writing to tell the quilting assoc about it. good luck. sue

No, don't think that will work. Must have a state issued photo I.D, or look way over 60 years old so they won't ask. :P

OH I know what you mean---I'll be 55 next month and can't wait---the Goodwill store down the road from me has Senior Citizen day every Wednesday---I'll be going there and scouting them out each Wednesday. But you are right by the time I hit 60 they'll up it to 63 or 65. Maybe I'll get my sister n law to go with me.

OMG I'm so busted! LOL Is that considered Senior Profiling?!!! Just check out the supermarkets on senior discount day! We're all there...with our own bags or boxes and coupons hanging out the edge of our purses! 8-)

Thanks for the reminder! Got a tight schedule the next couple days. Hope I can make it.

Im eligable but knowing Joanns nothing will be on sale or everything on sale will be marked up in price.
Watch out, they do mark up prices so sale prices look good but are not really.
The ruler I wanted was marked up to 15 dollar and was regular priced at 11.50 at my local shop. Both had coupons so the shop was cheaper.

ging10ging 09-13-2011 05:20 PM

You have to know your prices so you don't get caught paying extra. Sue
