I tried it once with my serger an I did NOT like the bulk from the seams. Maybe newer ones have resolve this problem but I didn't like the look of something that looked like a little kid made it.

Thanks for all the tips! My friend told me that the "bias pull on the strips makes them more likely to pull out and fray as compared to other shapes." Again, I'm new to all this and rather making it up as I go along, so I believed her. I have been gifted quilts that have had seams fray open in spots, so I know it happens, but I always just thought it was from a too-skimpy seam allowance. I've been using my new serger and LOVING it! It's faster for me and the seams are more consistent. I tried to lay my blocks out to take a picture to upload, but my 1 yo has other ideas... will try again later!

When you are using your serger are you using the blade?
