yes I have used the serger to do tops and do patch work on the serger for vest and bags... It is not goood to piece patterns with but easy patches is very fast....

I use my serger to make most of my Linus Quilts. I make them envelope style with the serger and then do some basic machine quilting using a decorative stitch with my regular machine. Instead of binding I use the same decorative quilting stitch to sew about 3/8 inch inside the outside seam. That encloses the sergered seam and gives it body like a binding.
