Serger thread cones

I have read many different views on using serger thread in quilting on different boards. I have used it myself with out any issues. I now have a long arm and see many pics with large cones of thread that I am sure will last much longer than normal spool. I cannot find any large spools of cotton or quilting thread other than serger thread. Has anyone of you quilters ever found large spools of thread other than serger thread? And, where can it be found? Thanks so much everyone for your help!

Lots of places online. Threadart, Connecting Threads, Superior Threads to name a few.

Kingsmen Quilting Supply carries quilting thread on cones. They carry different brands. I use the Signature Cotton cones and really like them. Some people say they create a lot of lint but I have no problem and always clean out the bobbin area on the longarm after each bobbin. Good luck on your search. There are alot of places online to get thread and are all different prices. Search around.

Look on the internet for cone thread and put in the weight you want to use. I have tons of threads. Some for quilting some for embroidery and others for surger use. For quilting I use Glide. I like the consistency of the thread. It doesn't break as often like many other threads.

You haven't searched for large cones of quilting/piecing thread online? Most name brand of threads have large cones from 3,000 to 10,000 yards.

I love using Metro machine embroidery thread for my FMQ, https://metroemb.com/store/index.php?route=common/home/. I don't think you can beat their prices, colors and customer service. I've never had a problem with thread breaking.

I am so lucky to have a LA shop a half hour from my winter house. The thread that they carry is the Superior thread 'Omni' and 'King Tut'. Those are 40 wt threads made for the LA and I've been very happy with them. Superior makes other thread lines as well. Those are the ones I've tried. And, I've purchased from the Superior website as well.
