I hit a wall trying to find this block pattern online. Anyone know where it could be?

k3n 10-06-2009 09:12 AM

Is this it?

You can buy the pattern here

Scroll right down. Hope it helps. :D

I can find many pictures of the block and quilt but no block pattern. I thought it was a public domain block. I guess it's copyrighted. I found a book that has the block pattern so I guess a new book will be in my mailbox soon. :D

To me, it looks like the Tumbling Blocks quilt. The pieces are the same shape, though the colors are handled differently. I've been trying to find a traditional Tumblng Blocks pattern, too, can only find the "Not Your Grandmother's" version which I don't want. I want G'ma's version.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 10-06-2009 09:25 AM

I'm glad you found a pattern, Bella. That is a very pretty block. I can't wait to see the quilt.

BellaBoo 10-06-2009 09:30 AM

I found an EQ5 download here:

It is the 60º diamond pieced into tumbling blocks to form stars. The new book by Marci Baker All My Stars has a strip piecing pattern for the block.

Lisanne, try Inklingo web site for traditional 60º block patterns.

Seven sisters has been around forever! I'm sure it's not copyrighted.

Added - in looking for this pattern, saw that it was suggested as a design for the Confederate Flag.

Thanks, BellaBoo, I'll check it out! Actually, just knowing that they're 60 degree angles helps a lot (duh, I should have been able to figure that out, but I just didn't).

Hi guys! I am glad you found your Seven sisters quilt pattern and hope you can help me find a pattern for cardinals to embroider in a quilt block . Thanks Betlinsmom

bakerdebnit 10-10-2009 08:20 AM

I can vouch for the Seven Sisters pattern in Leisure Arts Encyclopedia of Classic Quilt Patterns, page 289. I really love the pattern. Several years ago there was (I think) an AQ article that simplified the pattern to eliminate some of the set in seams. I lost it long ago. Good luck! This may be my favorite pattern.

Love all the help available on this board.

I am probably too late with this, but I was watching Kay Wood today on-line and noticed that one of the videos is the double wedding ring quilt. the link is: http://www.kayewoodtv.com/ktv/index....ink=true&chn=6
hope it will help who ever needs the info!

I'm sure you've found it. I found this one today. It's a pillow pattern but I'm sure you could make it any size. Happy Quilting.

ummm, 2009 post. i think the problem would have been solved by now. at least i hope so. I know I've heard of that.

pewa88 10-23-2016 02:39 PM

lol, Native Texan. I just get cracked up when people respond to threads that are years old. Happens all the time.

nativetexan 10-23-2016 05:27 PM

I know, it must not show dates the particular way they find them. Oh well.

b.zang 10-23-2016 05:49 PM

Seven Sisters is the name of a mountain range nearby. Might make an interesting quilt block to reflect mountains.
I know this isn't what you're looking for, though.

Same here. :D The cool thing is sometimes I end up finding something awesome that I didn't know about before!

7 Sisters and Tumbling Blocks are just 60 degree diamonds. You can make sizes any size you want - the look is all in the way you lay them out. No pattern needed.

Here's a variation I made. My g'ma cut out the pieces, but never made them into a quilt. I finished it.

In the dark corner of my mind I think I remember seeing a pattern for 7 sisters in a love of quilting mag.....several yrs ago...and if so, it is buried in my sewing room......no, I don't think I'll start looking for it...others have offered more recent info....that would be a fun epp though, hmmmm......for me more precise that my hand-piecing!

Have started one like 117 post, but large diamonds GO die and machine sewed with no y seam ( Kay woods technique), good scrappy.

nativetexan...... Retread your post on date......wow, I got pulled into this one! I usually check, but missed it this time!
