Looks like we're going home early today. Some reports say we can expect as much as 5" of snow. No big deal for most folks - but here in Houston it is definitely a big deal. Sewing room here i come. Of course, I'll have to stop long enough to build a snowsomething :P

renee765 12-04-2009 06:36 AM

I am so envious. We were expecting about an inch, which really would close down San Antonio because the last time we saw any snow was in 1985. But the latest reports this morning are that we MIGHT get a few flurries. Darn!

We had about 2-3 inches yesterday, with a little wind. Fortunately , no big drifts anywhere, but the guys were able to get the corn out on my son's land. Clear and cold last night, sunshine today, but still cold...not warm enough so the snow sticks to build a snowsomething. ( I like that term!) We still have about 100+ acres of crop to take out. I'll be glad when we are done!

ginnie6 12-04-2009 01:01 PM

well ya'll just send it on east! Here where I am in SC it HAS to come up from the Gulf before we get anything. So send it on. My kids really want snow!

Jim's Gem 12-04-2009 01:09 PM

Hope you have a fabulous day of sewing!!!
No snow here, ever. We are supposed to see some rain come monday. I hope so!!!

hereca622 12-04-2009 01:29 PM

Smiling in Houston, also. It rains awhile and it snows awhile. Don't think that there will be any snowmen, it is turning to water here as soon as it hits the ground. I did take a few pictures to document this strange event.

barnbum 12-04-2009 01:36 PM

Ooo--a sew day--sweet!!

KBunn 12-04-2009 01:41 PM

I want a sew day!! I am jealous. Sadly we just dont see that much snow in this part of Utah....just lots of cold. It was -3 on my way to work this morning. Oh how I wished I was home by the fire working on the baby quilt I am hand quilting!

STAR 12-04-2009 02:01 PM

Last night I beleive we got 5 inces in like 3 hours?? then it continued to snow off and on through the night and some today. The bad thing here is that it is so normal that I won't get a sew day!!!! isn't that just crazy! everyone needs a day now and then.

sewnsewer2 12-04-2009 02:11 PM

Gosh, I didn't know Houston got snow. It's rainey and cold here.

amma 12-04-2009 02:52 PM

We are in a cold spell, no snow or rain though :D
in the mid 30's during the day and down to 17 to upper 20's at night... I think I will stay in and sew too :D :D :D

Chele 12-04-2009 02:57 PM

Only rain here. I did have to put socks on. Very unusual. It was down to 55 today. My kids are frozen solid. Little punks want the heat on! Back to 80 degrees by Tuesday. Send a little snow my way? And a coat for the little ones?

Aunt Maggie 12-05-2009 06:06 AM

While I wouldn't mind a sew day....y'all are saying too,too many 4 letter words in these posts. Don't you know that snow is a 4 letter word, ice is a short one and sleet is a long one!!!

Three almost steady days of rain! That's almost unheard of especially this time of year. This is the dry season.
I'm about 1 1/2 hours southeast of you.
No golf again today so I'm doing my farm blocks. No sewing just yet so getting the tedious stuff done on the blocks.

I haven't seen snow since visiting northern virginia a couple of Christmases ago.

Bevanger 12-05-2009 06:36 AM

LOL.(snowsomething)..... Have fun sewing.

This has been an unusual year weatherwise across the nation. Here in the midwest we've had one of the coolest summers on record...crops didn't mature in the timeline they should have and corn and soybeans were harvested later than usual because of the wet conditions.

Gilla 12-05-2009 07:36 AM

The temp at my house today was 23 degrees!!1 Frost on the pumpkin, but no snow. Thank you very much.

dizzy 12-05-2009 08:54 AM

YOU'LLcan have your snow I've seen enough of it in mylife time.
The year i was in the 7th grade we were snowed in for six weeks.that was in 78,an then 83 we had another big snow.
I lived in Indiana in that state for forty years.an now live in Arkansas an if they get snow here it don't last long enough to even make snow men hardly. An I love the warmer temps.

no co quilter 12-05-2009 09:11 AM

Hmmm...I live in the Adirondacks - it was 54 yesterday - no snow to date, very unusual....may flurry this evening?? I need a sew day to complete a quilt for a Christmas present for my grandchild.

beachlady 12-05-2009 09:13 AM

Snowing in Annapolis, Maryland too, but my machines and fabric are all in Maine. Boo Hoo!

deedum 12-05-2009 02:01 PM

I didn't know it snowed in Houston either, especially 5". We got a few snow flurries yesterday, that was about it! I am ready for a snow day, I live in the country and told my boss, if the weather is bad I am not comin in to work! Last yr on Christmas Eve, we were to work 1/2 day, we had an ice storm, I tried going in to work about 30 miles, went off in a little ditch, damaged my car and still had to take a vacation day! Not doing that again! I learn pretty quickly, hard but quick! ***Let her snow*******************

littlehud 12-05-2009 07:21 PM

We might be getting a few flurries tomorrow. We don't get many snow days here. Not because there is no snow but because here in the midwest we just have to live with it. I want a snow day too.

deedum 12-05-2009 08:53 PM

Agreed, the weather here in Il has to get bad to get a snow day! Usually tons of snow or high winds with snow. Ice will do it too! No fun if you got to get out in it!They are calling for 1-3" here

patsyo56721 12-06-2009 05:32 AM

I'm here in Georgia on the east coast but I am originally from Orlando, so I know how it is.

SewCin 12-07-2009 05:15 AM

ok, so the snow was disappointing. we had heavy flurries in the morning and again in the afternoon and evening. just fun to watch; no snow anythings to build. i did leave work early though, and got to sew a while. it rained most of yesterday and i worked on three projects - will post some pics if i ever finish!

here's to a great week for everyone...
