You use it like a stilleto.....bit high for a bent piece ofplastic; I use a skewer from the kitchen.

I was thinking the exact same thing! A chopstick works too.

I refuse to pay that price for a piece of plastic! I use a sharpened Chop stick (Saved from a Chinese meal), or my old hat pin (from my Great Granny) both work great!

I have something like that. I thought it was used as a sort of thimble

I've had one of these since my needlepoint days back in the 80s.

The amazon price is ridiculous but it would certainly last longer than a piece of plastic!
:)

The Amazon price is $4.65. Nancy Notions is $7.99 with free shipping. Not much difference to care about. I guess 30 years ago it was much cheaper, like everything else was.

I use a fons and porter quilter's friend - love it because it is made of rubber (plastic?), i have a velcro circle on my sewing table, and back it goes. lately, I have been loosing things, and using the velcro dots on everything.

That's a plastic trolley needle.

I saw someone using it for turn applique.

The trolley needle is scary looking. LOL. I have never seen anything like that. Well learn something new every day

I threw one away yesterday !! Billed to me as a finger protector for hand quilting. It protected alright but I couldnt feel the needle to make the quilting stitch! lol.

I use a bamboo skewer or an old broken knitting needle. I have vowed to buy no more gadgets this year. Two weeks in and I'm doing well!

I would be miserable if I made myself not buy new quilting gadgets for a year. I may die next month and then what was the point of not having the fun of new stuff today? LOL
