Sewing 2 squares together

So here"s my problem, I'm trying to sew 2 squares together on all 4 sides but no matter how much I pin, the squares don't line up and shift around. I've tried cutting the squares together but it still doesn't help. Any ideas?

try basting them together with a glue stick? i find that pins shift the fabrics a bit with the 'wave' that they create

Spray them both with starch then press them with your iron together (one on top of the other)........that should help.

Wonder Clips are perfect for this. You don't have to remove them from the edges when you sew. I use to use Wonder tape but it's expensive for a lot of squares.

I'm wondering what type(s) of fabrics you are seaming. Quilting cotton shouldn't shift much. If you are trying to sew together 2 pieces of cotton and they are shifting that much, you should try easing up on your presser foot pressure. if your fabrics are knits or something with a nap, you need lots of pins or try dots of school glue.
The other thing I'm wondering is what project you are making where you need to sew all 4 sides together!

You can sew two squares together to make HSTs.

Like PaperPrincess, I think your pressure foot pressure may be too tight so that the top fabric is getting held up and the bottom piece is being moved by the feed dogs. I sew lots of squares together and then cut a diagonal X across them to get 4 HST pieces.

I starch my fabric when I am pressing then I find them not shifting.

Try over cutting your squares, draw a sewing line and stitch on the line. Trim the squares to 1/4 inch seam allowances after sewing them.
