Sewing on Binging. Help please!

What is the best way to sew the binding to the back of a quilt?
I've machine stitched it to the front, but I'm afraid to do that on the back and screw up the way it looks on the front. If I hand stitch it to the back, will that be sercure enough? This quilt is going to a baby boy and I want it to hold up to a lot of love.

use small even tight stitches on the back and you will be ok.

I like to hand stitch my binding to the back. I use a single strand of strong thread and keep my invisible stitching between 1/8 and 1/4 inch apart.

I prefer to sew my binding on the back by hand. I use a double strand ofCoats & Clark Dual Duty XP in a matching color and use tiny stitches using either a whip stitch or a ladder stitch, whichever strikes my fancy at the moment!

here is a pictorial tutorial for the ladder stitch. http://turningturning.com/tutorial-i...quilt-binding/

I used to hand sew bindings to the back using just a single strand of thread. I did a simple overhand stitch. It always held up just fine.

I've sewn all my bindings on the back by hand. Use a good non-stretchy thread and it will be fine.

I always hand stitch on the back. If you want to some of the ladies sew it on the back and the machine from front with stitches where they want. Some are very good and only clip other tend to tack round first to position correctly.

I machine stitched the last quilt I made to the front. I like it. Be sure to use your walking foot if you do it this way.

I hand stitch the back and have never had any problems with them :)

I like to machine stitch my binding on. I use a decorative stitch. I have tried hand sewing and just do not enjoy that process. I do like the look of both ways. Many people enjoy hand stitching. I also have done both sew to the back and also front - both look fine.
