I make quilt tops by hand. Is it okay to sew the blocks together by machine?

Thanks,
Mary

I've done this many times. Sewn the block pieces together by hand so I'd have hand work to take with me to meetings, etc and then sewn the rest of the quilt together by machine. I don't think there are too many "absolutes" in quilting. If it makes you happy to piece them by hand and finish by machine, you do just that. As long as you're enjoying the process. :)

Mary,

You can do whatever you want, it is your quilt? My grandmother always did her quilts that way.

I always piece by machine and then quilt by hand. One of these days I keep telling myself I'll piece by hand too, then, I thankfully come back to reality.

Okay, lets not get rash here. I sometimes hand quilt, but never and I mean never have had the urge to piece by hand! There is a hand piecing group that meets at the shop on Monday nite, I go home.
