That is so unique. I have a plain one that looks simular inside and opens like yours does. I got it from a friend when her MIL passed away for $20. She said her hubbys grandfather made it for his Mom as a wedding gift in 1930. It's not as fancy as yours but I love it just the same. She also sold me a really neat old roll top desk for $50. The painting is what used to be referred to as Tole painting. New terminology is now Decorative painting. Original patterns were by a person who is well known in the Decorative paining field by the name of Helan Barrick. Painting was not done by her but by someone who used her pattern most probably from one of the many instructional books she published.
