I'm going to try it as placemats with matching trivets. You're right, I don't think the floor thing is practical.

I printed and read thru the instructions and love the idea....so many uses. My question is when threading the cord through the channels and between the batting layers, won't it shred the batting? I will be trying this.....but am thinking about a "possible" different method .....there has to be a way to add the cord at the same time you are sewing the fabrics into channels.

Very interesting. Might have to try this.

this was my first attempt...I enjoyed doing it...the wrapping is what takes the time.

Thanks,
Looks interesting. |
Thanks for sharing the photo Linda! I love the colors you chose. I've been wanting something for my bathroom floor, a rug like this would be perfect!

Interesting but think I'd like to do it as trivets, table mats, etc. Thanks for sharing.

If wanting to make one for a bath room why not use a towel or bath sheet? It would be really absorbent.
I would definitely add the cording and use the zipper foot as I go rather than threading the cord through. If you are getting new linens you could even recycle by piecing several of your older ones together to get some different color and pattern combinations. Ann in TN |
Just an afterthought on the corded rug. You will have to have a sewing machine that is up to the job of sewing through that cording when attaching the binding especially to the ends of the rug. There are plenty of machines out there that simply wouldn't be up to the job. Ann in TN
