eek, I hope that was a mistype, you don't oil the motor you use lube.

I just purchased a FW from a friend and her husband had replaced the cord and she had bought a 1/4" foot for the machine so I feel so good about getting it out of the case and start sewing on it.

The fact that the owner can adjust the FW is one of the things I love about them. I have 2 and wouldn't trade them.

When the tip of the hook meets the top of the eye of the needle, there should only be a thread's distance between them.
This is why the correct needle spec is so important.

When I've removed the stitch plate and cleaned my featherweight, I've failed to get the bobbin case hook, not the case but the apparatus that it fits into, lined up properly. It skipped stitches like crazy. There's a photo of the correct alignment for the hook assembly in the manual.
