I have some insulbrite batting, I wonder which way does the shinier side go to the back of the material or facing down into the ironing board. I should know this, but not used it yet. Thanks for any suggestions.

I believe the shiny side is up to reflect the heat back to the article being ironed.

i know when i buy a cover the shiny side is up and potholders/mits are shiny side up. i remember a loooong time ago when my mother covered her ironing board with worn out sheets - just folded it & pinned it in place

FYI -

Do not iron/press directly on insulbrite.

The polyester part melts.

Shiny goes toward the source of heat but you have to use some warm and natural on both sides of it.

Thanks, may just use some warm and natural that I have here anyways. Do not need it to melt.

The cover that I purchased with my Big Board had a heavy poly piece that barely covered the top - the texture of it was sort of like warm and natural batting

and a cotton duck cover - that is skimpy in size - and has to be put back on the board while it is still quite damp -

The Big Board is just made of very good grade plywood.

Oh my gosh, I have never washed an ironing board cover, when it comes off it goes directly to the trash. Hmmm...

i usualy do the same but the cover i have now is printed like a ruler so i'll probably wash it - i bought another just in case it doesn't wash ok
