I read recently of some on here whose dh made them a sewing extender for sewing larger objects. My dh and I looked at Lowe's today and are left wondering how do the dhs attach the legs for these to the main base under side. I understand putting feet on them but how does one attach those feet to the board? Anyone know and willing to share their plans and pics? Priced the plexiglass ones and had sticker shock. Lowe's carries 18x 24 pcs of acrylic which would work fine but what about those feet? Working on a king sized scrappy now and getting to big to deal with. Need an extender. Any help greatly appreciated.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I stick my ironing board to the left of my machine, perpendicular to my machine, sort of coming out like a peninsula. This works well for me, preventing gravity from winning. :)

Can't answer your question but in the meanwhile put a card table or iron board next to your sewing machine table.
The ironing board you can adjust the height on. Just a thought!:)

I used wood for feet and bought the acrylic glue made for the plexiglass and they have held up for 2 years now. My DGD's we screwed them in from the top down and applied some of the glue on top of each so it would be smooth. She is 11 yo and we thought it would be stronger.

I ordered one off the internet ($75.00) the legs are screwed in from the top down with what looks like little plastic discs on the top--and they screw from the underside...not much help but that is how it works. Truth is...why have legs? Why not just put a spacer at the right height at the end of the extension?

I had one that had the plastic bolts but they broke. My husband used carriage bolts, dowel rod and chair sliders to replace the plastic parts. It was solid after that.

why can't you use a couple if pieces of 2x2 cut and sanded to put under the ends. that is what i have. no need to screw in and the sheet can be slid in a cabinet or by your cabinet with your large cutting mats. put your blocks in the drawer with you scissors or what ever.
