Sewing machine finger guards
I am getting my DGD, who will be 9 in November, a Hello Kitty sewing machine for Christmas. She wants to learn to sew and has a Janome Sew-Mini that was a waste of money, in my opinion. I have read about finger guards for sewing machines but have never seen one. Do they make them for home sewing machines? And where could I find one?

I've seen finger guard at JoAnn's an Walmart and Hancock's. My niece has the Janome 123 I think. I bought it and can't remember. She loves it and keeps her manual handy for all little boogers (she calls them). She has made pillow cases, pillows, couple purses, stuffed bear for a friends baby. She just turned 10. She also has used her grandmothers Runway and gpa's Fw. She sent for the manual for the FW. She uses the different ones depending on her mood. We got her the finger guards but she hated them. She uses a popsicle/craft stick wrapped with the self adhesive sports bandages as a stiletto. She comes up with her own little tricks. She says she'll use the guards when she grows up and they fit. Doesn't like them. Feels like dough balls on her fingertips.

I've seen them available on several sites. I've linked to one below. I also think All Brands might have them.

There are quite a few different ones:
http://www.universalsewing.com/tek9....criteria=520.1 There may be a problem finding one to fit the Hello Kitty, however, since it is a 3/4th size machine: http://annamariahorner.blogspot.com/...doo-hicky.html http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/.../Finger_Guards You may want to purchase a standard size Janome instead of the Hello Kitty. |
I got mine off eBay it just looks like a wire and it was generic
