I just got a 1973 Kenmore sewing machine-model # 158.17032. It sews a great straight stitch, but I can't figure out how to make it zig zag and how to use the cams. I am in desperate need of the instruction manual for this machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I cannot find one on the internet anywhere. Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

I don't know if this will help but you may get a live person to talk to

or even try to email kenmore to ask if they have a downloadable version.
I got a 1221e Pfaff thru freecycle and couldn't find an english version of the manual on line, so I emailed their homepage and got it. That machine dated back to 1972. |
By reading the info on the 158. series this may be it. Does it look like this machine??

There's a downloadable version of the manual for the 1703 here:
http://www.sewconsult.com/kenmore/15..._158_1703.html I have the 1803 manual which I would be glad to email to you, but it's a large file. The 1703 and 1803 were very similar machines - some of the information in this manual won't pertain to the 1703, but all the info about stitch settings, cams, threading, bobbins, needles, etc. should be the same. |
Haven't found any freebies but average cost is about $10.

So far Poly Parrots was the cheapest.

Thanks so much for your info. I found the right manual for my machine. It cost $5.95 to download it. Pretty inexpensive, I think and I should have it tomorrow.
