Sewing machine oil

Hi:
I would like to know what kind of oil do you use to oil your machine with?

You need to use a good clear light weight oil, sewing machine oil. You can buy the Singer oil anywhere from Walmart to JoAnnes to some quilt shops. Lily White is another brand, I buy it online by the quart since I go through so much. Tri Flow is another good oil, usually available at bike shops or many places on line.

I get the White Diamond/Lily White sewing machine oil by the quart (online), as Cari does. I've got way too many vintage machines, so I'm liberal with it when unfreezing a machine that has sat for a long time, or for gentle cleaning of the finish. Clear oil is best for lubrication, just in case it gets on white or light fabric, clean-up is easier.

Machine oil is made to evaporate so be sure it is for sewing machines. If it didn't evaporate it would clog up. Only use clear. Never use 3 in 1 oil or spray lubricant if you are not going to deep clean it off.

Tri-Flow from Sew Classics, it has telflon in it.

I use Singer sewing machine oil. For anybody new to sewing who is reading this, I would be particular about using a lightweight oil made just for sewing machine because a heavier oil can gum up over time and cause problems for your machine.

Yes, please only use sewing machine oil!! I did not know this when I first started sewing so I use what I had always used on other things-- 3in1 oil-- bad bad bad. I got my machine so jacked up that it cost me $$ to get it cleaned and the repair man scolded me.

Singer sewing machine oil is good and i found one that is called "zoom Spout Sewing machine oiler. It has a long spout that telescopes to reach those difficult places and it bends also..love it.

I use oil that I got from my sewing machine dealer. I have been told to never use Singer oil because it gums up the machine.

I, like Cari and Manalto, buy Lily White by the quart. I use Tri-Flow as well, but only after everything is nice and smoothly running. I also use Tri-Flow synthetic grease for gears as it is very effective and just a very light coat of grease last a long long time.
