Sewing machine questions regarding Janome

I have been looking at the Janome 8200 QCP Special Edition, with large throat area.
Today I looked at a comparable Brother machine & the gal told me that they have more repairs on
the Janome.

Do any of you own this Janome & have you used it long enough to see how it is holding up for you?
I certainly do not want to purchase a machine that will have difficulties with use.
Thank you for any input.

I own 4 Janomes...since 2005..never had any repairs..only annual maintenance. Did you ask for clarification on what kind of repairs they experience? If you like the Janome...buy it. Sounds like a sales contest situation.

The Janome 8200 is a great machine, I know two people that own one, both of them love it. Janome is a great brand, very reliable, I seriously considered the 8200 but I'm technologically challenged lol. I agree it sounds a bit fishy.

Agree ... you really do need to know more about the repair reasons!
Were the repairs "operator-caused"?

With the newer more computerized machines (which I think the 8200 is) ... it is way too easy for the operator to create the need for repairs.

I don't know the 8200, other than from knowing that others have always talked highly about it.

I have owned four Janomes and have always been impressed for what they were able to do ... and the only problems that I had, I caused myself!!

If l was to buy a machine today, that 8200 would be my pick. The 6500 Janome l presently use is basically the same machine with a 9" throat rather than the 11" in the 8200.Easy to understand computorization, strong quiet motor, great selection of stitches & other features, buttons convenientlyplaced near needle ( eg : reverse, lock, needle up/dwn). I also own a very reliable Brother embroidery machine ( pe770). l think you should try out both brands you are considering, and get a ''feel'' for them...getthe one you feel comfortable with.

A Brother dealer will tell you Janomes need more repair, and Janome dealers will tell you Brothers need more repair. It's in their best interest to get you to buy their brand. Play with both of them and buy the one that makes your heart go pitter patter.

I've had a 6600 (9 years), an 8900 (3 years) and a 3160 (5 years), all great machines, not a single problem with any of them. Don't think you will go wrong with an 8200.

I've had my Janome 6500 for over 10 years and never had to have a repair.
