Have you asked your question in the vintage machines forum section? A wealth of informative folks there

You may want to specify that you are looking for a SERVICE manual rather than a user manual if you are looking for information that will help you identify a part and replace it.

The Singer site also has a contact info. You might try just contacting them directly.

That's a very basic machine. It would probably be more cost effective to buy a new machine than to put a new gear into it. If that machine came into my shop, I'd say, "No, you'd be better off putting your money into a new or used machine." Replacing gears isn't all that easy -- you've got to know how to do it without throwing the timing all out of wack.

thankyou kitsie for your help. my husband repaired the gear himself by superglueing it then attaching metal to hold it in place. he also was able to set the timing on it and it is purring again. The machine belongs to a friend of ours but had no manuel with it. The machine was left to her by her grandmother.
