Nice tips there. I really liked the one about de-threading the machine when changing spools of thread. Thanks!

I had no idea pulling my thread backwards could cause problems. Thanks

The technician where I just bought my new machine told me about the thread thing. I hadn't known that either.

In addition....he said the same thing about the bobbin. It has a very sharp razor like place that when you pull the thread out backwards when you just take out the bobbin, it will build up fuzz and make the bobbin not perform properly. Instead, you should remove the bobbin, snip the thread, then pull it out as it would come out when it is sewing. Huh...who knew??

Also it is very important to have the presser foot up, whether you are threading or unthreading your machine so that the tension disks are opened when doing so. Less wear and tear on the machine.
Also my machine repairman says not to wind the bobbin through the needle which I have been doing for years but as shown in our manuals as it wears on the thread guide just above the needle. Makes sense but a hard habit to change. I enjoy everyones tips, pictures and etc. Bernadette
