:( well i have had bad luck with my sewing machine, I was doing the tutorial from Rhonda on the half squares, it stopped sewing, i tried retreading it ,cleaning, oiling and still it makes a weird sound and the feed-dogs are not moving, its a brother LX3125 so i guess i will be hand sewing everything, Just hasn't been my luck lately, then today i ended up having to get new lenses for my glasses and Doctor wants me to see a eye surgeon, So anyone got any ideals on this machine , i need to get it working again so i can finish quilts for the grandbabys and advise is appreciated

I am not familiar with your kind of machine,
I know you cleaned it but something couldn't be jammed somewhere could it, a rogue pin or clump of thread? Or maybe the power is not fully plugged in at either end. I had a similar thing happen with one of my machines and I had been winding bobbins and forgotten to disengage the bobbin winder function properly. It was kind of stuck half way. Hope your problem is resolved and all goes well with your eye check. |
Everything was checked no lint or thread, no pins broken i just don't understand this its never happened before , always was a good little machine,
And thanks you i will recheck and see if i can get it to running i just got frustrated with it and gave up, hubby and son tired to see if they could get it to work but no luck HUGS dora |
I love it when they try to come to the rescue, especially the kids. Mom needs help and there they are!
Sounds to me like a good excuse to get a new or "new to you" machine. |
I bought this yard sale machine and the feed dogs wouldn't move so I took it in and the repair guy stuck his finger under the feed dogs and forced them to move and oiled the feed dogs really good and now they move like new.
|
maybe it's time to call the 'brother' customer service number...do you have the owners manual for the machine? are their trouble shooting tips in it? there should be a phone # for tech support. i had good results calling in one time when a brother machine was messed up, the service tech talked me through the fix. it did take about 45 minutes on the phone but i thought it well worth it.
good luck. |
I had a simular problem with my machine. I thought I was so good about cleaning my machine. I always took out the plate and the bobin, and cleaned that area. I never thought to turn over the machine, unscrew the bottom and clean it out. You can imagine the dust bunny I found in it. Unfortunately I still had to send it out for service. It runs fine now and I clean it more often and more thourougly and oil it too!

If the wheel turns but the feed dogs don't move your hubby may have to take it apart and put the belt back on or change the belt. I had a Brother machine that did this. It's a different model but this may help.
|
thanks everyone for the reply's, i never thought about taking the bottom off maybe that's where the problem is, i still have the manual and the DVD that came with it, so as my hubby gets done with the car i will tell him about all the subjection, Yall cross your fingers, we will try and see if this don't work i will call the service people but if it has to be surviced i will have to wait,

well it still dosent work, called the service people they told me to take it to their brother sewing place which is 2 hourss from here so, well i will be sewing by hand till i can afford to get me a new one or get this one fixed, which is going to be a long while
thanks though to all of you for trying to help me HUGS Dora |
I bought an electronic White I used daily for just over a year when it just quit. I guess heavy use juts was not its thing. I now use an old vintage Kenmore for quilting. Great thing is it can usually be repaired pretty easily and these oldies are built to last. I got the SM and cabinet for $60 and I love it. I also have a computerized Janome that I use for my more delicate work.
|
You did not say if this is a computerized machine, but if it is try unplugging it for 10 or 15 minutes and then plug it in and see if it works. I had this happen on my Janome 6600 once and I tried everything and then decided to unplug it and went back later and plugged it in and it has been purring every since.
|
Oh sorry no it is not a computerized machine its one from Walmarts we have use for about 3 years now, It was a good little machine while it lasted

Sorry Dora, I hate not having a machine. I hope you can work it out soon and get back to sewing.

What a bummer, I hated when I had to get another identical machine when after a year the motor burned up. Good thing I was still working and the next night I bought another on line with free shippping. It took 3 months and $380.00 to get the motor and have it installed. I do love these machines and everything about them. Some people on this board have found an old machine for not much money at all. If you have a Goodwill or Salvation Army stores close by, you may want to check them often.
Good luck. Happy hand sewing until you get another or get that one repaired. |
Sorry about your sewing machine. I would keep and eye out at the goodwills and thrift shops and even the pawn shops for a good one, that want cost you a arm and a leg..But sewing by hand is good also, and they look so much more prettier I think.
