I watched this episode of Sewing with Nancy last week, and found the video on line. She is "basting" the quilt sandwich with fusable web. Has anyone tried this method? Would it leave stiff spots on the quilt? Would like some feedback if anyone has had experience with it. |
Interesting. . . . . :? I have used a piece of fusiable web once or twice when I was afraid the scant 1/4 inch seam was a tad bit short, and I couldn't see or feel it when I was done.
I would be afraid it would shift when I was ironing it. |
after the quilt is quilted and bound if you wash it the stiffness of fusable web softens up- unless you use one of the no=sew ones...which nancy uses often- because she makes wall=hanging art quilts that are not meant to be washed- so the stiffness doesn't matter.
i have (tried) to use fusable web to baste (once) it did not work so well for me- the fusable i (tried) to use disappeared in the batting- did not adhere to the fabric- it was a mess- but i was probably just using the wrong stuff- maybe try it on a small project-like a place mat or something and see how it goes- but the fusables do wash away-soften up when the quilt is washed. |
i don't think those few dots of fusible will change the hand of a quilt
