Sewing over layers...a common concern

I love my Janome 9900! I sewed double faced binding on a tablerunner. Two layers of quilting cotton, on layer of fusible fleece and four fabric layers of the binding. Sweet! Smooth. No issues. I sew slower when sewing over layers . I used the standard foot. My new walking foot for this machine is on order. Very happy.

I have the Brother 1500. If the layers fit under the foot the machine will sew though it like butter.

I know just what you mean. I recently upgraded from a mechanical Janome to an electric one, and wow, what a difference! My first time using it I started stitching a block with two pieces of flannel and batting, and it was so easy I doubled it over and stitched right through – four layers of flannel and two layers of batting! My old machine would have choked and spit up thread. I am so happy with my newer machine!
