Has anyone refashioned t shirts, heard someone talking about someone doing that. Have a long sleeve old navy polo shirt of my sons, he is getting rid of it and thought, gee...I should make it into a night shirt for myself. Might as well, I bought it for him to begin with. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Why not? You could add a row of soft lace, maybe a pocket, buttons or anything else you wanted too. You can also set the zig-zag on your machine in a tight stitch (about 1/8" wide but close together) and pull the edge of the neck, cuffs or hemline as you zig-zag around it. It will make a ruffled effect.

Sure!!! Go for it. I took a class from "Stretch N Sew" MANY years ago. They recommended NOT using the stretch stitch on the machines (not sure they still have that). It's a nightmare and a waste of thread. Simply give the knits a slight pull to stretch and sew. It'll pop back to shape really well and has the "give" that knits need.

Lengthen the stitch length - and then do the stretching and sewing. If one uses tiny/short little stitches, the stretch stays stretched.

Experiment a little - knits have varying amounts of stretch - some are almost as rigid as a woven - and others will stretch to over twice their original dimensions. Many of them have more stretch in one direction than the other.

I saw a book a few weeks ago, can't remember the name of it, that was all about remaking a regular men's tee shirt to fit better on a woman. From sleeves to taper bottom. I wish I would have thought to buy it.
