Is the wall load - bearing? If so, turn it into an archway or put a load - bearing beam and open up your space.

First of all, I just love the pics of the sewing rooms, it is so much fun to see. Second, I have my sewing room and a room next door that is my dh den (that he rarely uses) I have been over flowing into that room. I totally dislike that wall, if I had my way I would tear it down if possible, one big room sure appeals to me! However, I have a nice sewing room, it was already there when we bought the house.

I would keep a small cutting mat in your sewing room, and put the big cutting table in the fabric room.

Lucky you to have two rooms for quilting. I agree, you should keep the two rooms, have one for fabric storage and cutting and the larger room for sewing. Also, have a bookcase for your patterns/books in the room with the sewing machines.

Or at least put in a door between the two.

I agree anything to do with the fabric, cutting, patterns and even the big ironing board in the fabric room. Keep a small cutting mat and small ironing board in the work room. I don't know how most of you do this, but I only use the fabric when I am deciding what to make with what. There are even times I change my mind and try something else. But cutting and patterns and fabric are not a everyday item. At least not for me. I have my fabric in the same room, but when I lay out a pattern all my fabric for that pattern is together. Boy I hope this makes sense lol... And I sure hope this helps you decide what to do, by the way I love your room, mine has a big ol treadmill that takes up a lot of my space, but I have cramedy crammed it all in there.

I agree with raptuready, knock out the wall, basement walls are just framed in, easy enough to get rid of it. Make your sewing room as big as possible. Can't be productive if you are traveling fromone room to the next. Trying to figure out where everything is.

I have a similar problem, so my cutting is done in one bedroom, sewing and ironging and storage in the other. I would love to knock the wall out between the rooms, but then I'd have two walls I couldn't use.

I also agree. or try switching the rooms around. The smaller for the fabrics and the larger for the work area. :)
