sorry, tammy, didnt quote your name for the suggestion of slots cut into top

I'd like more room. I'm trying to organize and reorganize so I can get to things easier. I even made a tiny pressing area instead of my large ironing board. I don't make many large quilts, so the tiny pressing board works just fine. I would like a cutting table. I am using a card table, and it's to low, but I wouldn't raise it because it wouldn't be stable enough. I'd take everyone's advise on here from lighting to cutting area, storage, have a ball, and of course let us see it when you finish.

I have just moved everything I had stored in different places and the abundant storage I thought I had is gone.
I have whole wall of cabinets that are on top of a pony wall.
My mistake was not checking that my work table would fit under the cabinets. Think out everything on paper Have fun

gran of 6, you really got it going on in that fab sewing room! did you buy the workspaces with file cabinets that are on rollers or did someone make them for you?

I'm glad to see all the suggests, building on to our house and I get a sewing room, so this is really going to help me also.

As many electrical outlets as it is safe to have. What I have would send an electrician into total hysterics. I'm safe, but having to unplug devices to plug others is a royal pain. Also lots of light, natural and artificial.

You are going to be in a basement............My biggest concern would be water. I hope flooding would not be a problem. But just in case I would not store anything on the floor, but I'm sure you will have shelves for that anyway.
Sounds like alot of fun along with alittle work!!!!

Ditto! I love my cutting table which is raised to just the right height but I have no wiggle room at all. My sewing/guest bedroom is only 9' x 11'!

Lots of stuff....but really helpful is my large 5 drawer file cabinet. Label each drawer for different items and use plenty of file folders, and I also have a couple of the hanging type. Patterns, designs, magazines, print-outs, machine embroidery files, my goodness, just name it, can be organized in these file cabinet drawers. Sure has taken up lots of the stuff that I just had "laying" around...now it is neatly categoried and I can find what I want. One of the best space savers in my studio, I think.
