I have a great sewing rooms in a former upstairs bedroom all light and airy lots of space plenty of storage but I find myself more and more sewing at the dining room table on the first floor. I have a wee bit of trouble walking upstairs but I know its mostly because if I go upstairs the puppers will be left alone downstairs and who knows what she will get into. Does anyone else find themselves out of their sewing room? We have discussed exchanging the room for one downstairs but their is nothing comparable to the upstairs for light and space but it really doesn't matter if I don't use it, so I am at an impasse.

I did the same thing when our kitten was small because she would whine constantly or get into things. But, now that she is almost a year old, she joins me in the sewing room and is quite content to either sleep up in the window behind my back or on tp of the laundry basket.

My sewing space is in my basement...some days I want to bring my machine and stuff upstairs because I don't often get the opportunity to get down there to sew. I have a play area set up for the kids, but the baby needs more attention than I can give him when I'm at the machine. If I brought it up, I could start sewing while the boy eats lunch and stuff. I don't do it, though, because I can't be bothered to bring it all up, then reorganize to bring it all back down when we have meals at the table! LOL

I had a similar problem. No design wall and the only place to lay out my finished blocks is a bed in the basement. Solved it by getting a featherweight. Easy to move where I need it. Plus I can sew a few seams while waiting for a load of laundry to finish. And I can leave the big machine set up for FMQ. I'm getting lots more done.

Mine is upstairs, and the best light is about 2-3-4pm there. I sometimes commandeer the dining table when I'm cutting something big, like jammie pants.

If you've got a pup that gets into trouble, I would work on THAT problem first. Dogs want to be good and please you, they just gotta be shown how!

My sewing space is all over the place. Cutting table in one bedroom, sewing machine and cabinet is in the living room and my layout space is the dining room table and my king size bed. I'm constantly going from one room to another to get anything done. Wish I had one room large enough to put everything in.
