Sewing Santa was good to me...

Wow was I surprised this year. Sewing Santa was really good to me and I just had to share with people that would understand what it is I got. I am so incredibly grateful to my family for supporting my hobbies. I feel so blessed. I'm humbled by their generosity. This year I received an Elna eXcellence 740 sewing machine, EQ7, Gingher scissors, a thread spool stand, and a nice sewing storage box.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas; I hope you all felt loved and spoiled and I wish you all the best in the New Year. Thanks to all of you for being a wonderful supportive 'family' willing to share your experience and knowledge.

Oh, and my Mom loved her blanket (avatar picture) with matching throw pillow.

Happy Holidays!

Yeah, good for you! It's great when family understands our hobby and 'helps' us indulge.

Sewing Santa did not come to my house (must have been bad :( ) But I have been sewing/quilting many years and he has visited my house many times.

faykilgore 12-26-2012 06:19 AM

Congrats on the blessings!

Sounds like some great gifts! No sewing Santa for me either...But my son did make me a beautiful quilt rack that holds 4 quilts. Hangs on the wall and had four arms that swings . I love it. Now to find a place to hang it!

I share your excitement. I got EQ7 for Christmas, too. It is great that my family supports ny hobby.

Well Sewing Santa didn't visit my house but mainly because my kids pretty much know that I most of what I want and I know the things that I still want isn't in thier budget so I don't mention them or they'd try. I've been searching for months for an CD and couldn't find it and my daughter got me that one and also found one that had came out since that I didn't know about. I searched all over to find an emersion blender for my friend; I wanted to get her the one she wanted and finally did and wanted one for myself but couldn't afford it. My daughter was with me when I got it so she told my son that I wanted one. He got me one; not the one I would have gotten if I had the money but what he could afford which was great. I would have felt badly if he's spent the extra money to get the one I had wanted, like I bought my friend. My daughter paints once in a long while and she painted her friend a picture for her bathroom and I kept telling her I'd better get a painting. Come to find out; she had painted mine first, so I now have one to hang on my wall. I love it because my kids know me so well, better than my ex ever did. I don't keep it a secret of what I like or want so I never understood why he had to go around asking my family for help each yr or demand a list from me. My sister goes thru the same thing except her kids have no idea as to what to get her even though she's like me. I only get to see her once a yr if I'm lucky but when I see something I know she'd like I know it right away. I try and listen to my friends and family and get things that suits them and I'm so happy when they do the same for me. Sewing Santa might not have come to my house but my Family Santa did and was so right on target with what would make me happy; including two gift baskets of homemade items, (non food items)

Sew Santa came to my house, gift certificates for Joanne's and Hancocks, sewing baskets, gingher scissors, so much fun coming my way. Love the kiddoes.

Congrats on all of the sewing things

Goodness, you did have a nice quilting Christmas! I didn't expect much of anything because DH is getting me a long arm as a combined birthday, Christmas and anniversary (and Valentines, St Patrick's Day, Easter etc) present, but I still ended up getting some good sized gift cards to my favorite LQS, so I'm very pleased.

Is anyone else kind of glad to get back to a routine though? I haven't been able to sew in days due to holiday activities!

pumpkinpatchquilter 12-26-2012 07:26 AM

Hey congrat's! I would have been ecstatic to receive all those great gifts too!!! Lucky duck! ;) Santa brought me a Singer serger - not really a quilting gift but I love to make clothes for my daughters and bags and it's going to come in SO handy!! :)

mighty 12-26-2012 07:33 AM

BellaBoo 12-26-2012 11:15 AM

Sewing Santa brought quilt kits, sewing notions, and pre cuts for me. He was very generous this year.

I’ve been seriously quilting for about 1 year so this year they were stocking me up.

The quilt rack sounds wonderful, how nice he was able to make you one. I’d like one someday.

I’m anxious to really start playing with the software. I hope I can use it to its potential!

Envious!! Congrats on your upcoming longarm!
While I’m enjoying being with my Mom, I’m anxious to get back home so I can use all my gifts and start working through my sewing/quilting to-do list

Nice gift! A serger is on my list after an embroidery machine.

Sewing Santa brought me a strange present---a fourteen inch chef's knife. I still can't decide if I use it for slicing fabric or making knife-edged folds.:(

Geri B 12-27-2012 06:06 AM

as verified by all of the above "visits"...yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!!!!!!!!! and a Happy New Year to all!!!!!

Scakes 12-27-2012 06:29 AM

Sounds like Sewing Santa was very good to you! Enjoy! He hasn't been to our house this Christmas but we haven't opened all the gifts. Our youngest daughter went to visit her older sister and her new baby so part of our holiday has been delayed. They are having a great time together tho so waiting is no problem.

newbiequilter 12-27-2012 09:00 AM

Quilt Santa visited me also....new cutting mat, gift cards, replacement rotary blades.

cowgirlquilter 12-27-2012 09:02 AM

Yay! So happy for you! Can't wait to see all the goodies you will make!!

MimiBug123 12-27-2012 10:55 AM

My sewing Santa brought a bracelet! It is precious and has multiple sewing machines (like me), scissors, spool of thread, ruler, a "sewing book" and all sorts of cute charms. Jewelry and quilting--can't beat it!

mjhaess 12-27-2012 11:09 AM

Happy New Year to all....I also had a very blessed Christmas......Lots of beautiful fabrics and other quilting supplies....I am happy.....Blessing to all....

Grandma Peg 12-27-2012 11:17 AM

You did a have a great Christmas! didn't get any sewing items but got an iPad and almost having fun trying to figure it out. Lol

purplemem 12-27-2012 12:27 PM

Sewing Santa made a down payment on a Viking Sewing machine for a combined birthday and Christmas present. My bd is Jan 10. A good friend gave me a wall quilt for my bedroom that is more than lovely, such a dear. Those were my only quilty presents but they are fabulous ones. Quality counts!

Old hen 12-27-2012 04:30 PM

The sewing Santa lives at my house. Whenever I drag a new old machine home, Santa pitches right in and refinishes treadle cabinets, installs wiring, and cleans machines for me. I buy the things that I want because no one can find anything that I need. :) :) Happy New Year to all!

sarahelloyd 12-27-2012 05:05 PM

We have had an extremely frugal Christmas with everyone severely restricted with money, my DH bought me a 12" square ruler which I have always wanted and some clips for keeping the quilt rolled while quilting. As a family we have really enjoyed each others company far more this year than any other year, and think we will probably have a frugal Christmas again next year too!! But your gift does sound brilliant!

DebbE 12-27-2012 05:35 PM

I had the best non-quilting Christmas ever -- my Australian sister & brother in law came from Melbourne to spend Christmas with DH and I. I hadn't seen them in over 6 years, and it was such a lovely visit -- they boarded a plane to head to NY this morning and I'm very sad that they've left. But what a wonderful gift, to have had them here....they'd never been to the US before and are totally enjoying it. Tomorrow we head to Sacramento to have a late Christmas celebration with our children & grandchildren - am looking forward to that.

sewdamncute 12-27-2012 06:26 PM

What a great Christmas!

jollyquilting 12-27-2012 07:06 PM

I didn't want a thing for Christmas, my dear husband bought me some scissors that I thought were pretty b;ut most of all, we were all fairly healthy, got to see the great grandchildren, Merry CHRISTmas at my house too. I did get a music box that looks like an old sewing machine. That WAS a surprise.

Up North 12-27-2012 07:15 PM

No sewing Santa here but I did get what I asked for that was practical! a new floor mop a shelf th replace the one I broke in the fridge and best of all chocolates and bubblebath!

cherokeerose 12-28-2012 06:35 AM

Sewing Santa came to visit me also, he left a Brother SE-400 sewing and embroidery machine under the tree. I am a newbie sewer and was using a Singer Scholastic which I like, but not as well as this machine.

mhollifiel 12-28-2012 06:55 AM

Silly girl!! There's more than one quilt "built" on a serger. I turned to my serger when my Bernina went in for service and stayed and stayed and stayed. Put together a whole queen log cabin top while she was gone
My Longarmer said it was nothing new for her and said the serged quilts quilt up beautifully. Mine did!!

I'm so happy to hear about all of your wonderful holidays. It sounds like everyone was spoiled this year in many different ways. What it comes down to is not what we receive in material gifts, but what we have with our family and friends. Here's to a fabulous 2013 for all of you!

misseva 12-28-2012 09:46 AM

My daughter gave me 50 fat quarters in 1930s colors from Keepsake Quilting. I had requested 30s FQs - never dreamed so many. Now I have to find a pattern using FQs preferably the free kind.

karate lady 12-28-2012 12:16 PM
