Sewkindofwonderful

Has anybody used sew kind of wonderful patterns and curved rulers? I like the look of some of their patterns but am wondering if they are easy to understand.

I did the wedding ring quilt but found myself not following their instructions every time because their way, there was a bit more fabric waste. mainly the triangles I think. It's been awhile. still, the rulers are good for their patterns. more quilters should stop on and give their experiences too, so hang in there a bit more.

I have the Quick Curve ruler and have made the Chic Country quilt with it. It was a fun quilt to make and I would never have attempted to make a curved pieced quilt without special ruler and pattern. I have other patterns on my list to make with the ruler when I get the time. Link below is my post with the quilt I made.

her directions are good I think. you just have to read them as you go, especially if you are used to doing things in a different manner. I was and did some differently but it worked out OK anyway.

We just had Sherilyn Mortensen teach the Giving Tree at our store today! I made one, and really love how it turned out. The greatest thing about them is that you don't have to sew the curves perfectly. Because when you trim the blocks down, they become perfect.

our guild is doing one with the mini-quick curve ruler for their opportunity quilt. I've done some of the cutting and it isn't real hard, partly because you do trim down the blocks just like you do with Drunkard's Path. I have the larger one and will do one of the quilts with it--there are a couple of books out to go with the rulers.

How timely - I downloaded the Chic Sisters pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful today so I don't have an opinion about their pattern instructions yet. I also have the quick curve ruler but have not used it. Looking forward to making this - I really like their modern chic look.

I made this with the mini quick curve ruler when I took a class with a certified instructor. She helped us understand the instructions a bit more than I think I would have, just picking up the book. When I tried to make a few of the patterns I found on their website for free, I realized that some are for the regular sized ruler and some are for the mini. I did manage to convert the pattern for the regular sized one to the mini, but it took some trial and error.

I love Sew Kind a Wonderful rulers. I have made several of their quilts. They always turn out really nice. I found the directions easy to follow and the blocks came out really good once squared up.
