Shadowbox quilting suggestions needed
1 Attachment(s)
I've just completed the Shadowbox quilt pattern by Mountainpeek Creations for my SIL. It went together very easy and is done in all batiks. I would welcome any quilting suggestions you may have. I'm comfortable with FMQ feathers and similar designs and will use my DSM. I want to do more than just SID but nothing really elaborate. Anything particular pop into your head with this pattern? Thank you for all suggestions!

Love the fabrics. Very pretty.

Very nice quilt.
I have one sitting waiting to be sandwiched and quilted, and I think I am doing to do the shadows with straight lines -- in the ditch on both sides and probably 2 lines. I am going to quilt something different in each of the squares -- stippling in one, figure 8's in another, loops in another, etc. etc. For the light sashing strips - I thought that I'd just leave them unquilted, or perhaps a long wavy line. For the borders, don't quite know yet. I think it will depend on what is working well for me at the time. I'll be watching for other suggestions, and perhaps change my whole plan. Aileen |
Love this. You did a super job on it. BrendaK

Beautiful quilt! You can quilt feathers in the long strips of fabric and then outline each strip or maybe two lines in each white/black strip.

Beautiful quilt! I would do a rippling waves on the quilt?

I think I would SITD around the box and the shadow. I would then do a stipple or pebble in the black so it recedes into the background. I would then do a pretty feather in in the box but with nice big petals so it adds texture. I would do feathers in the big border. I think in the white strips, I might leave them plain as you have already SITD around and between them.

Your quilt is beautiful. It is on my list to do I am collecting Asian fabric to use for mine.

I think something "boxy" would suit. Like a meandering loopy pattern, but with squares and rectangles instead of loops?
