CLAP...CLAP...CLAP! Some of the dumb things I've done, then when the light bulb went off I just sit here and laugh.

"......It's interesting that when our daughter teaches math, my quilts are taken into her classroom to show how geometry does fit into real life......."

I have heard of math teachers and art teachers getting together and having students make blocks using the math to figure everything out. Then someone puts them all together and creates a quilt for some charity.

I honestly have no clue exactly how she uses my quilts but know that she was trying to imprint on the kids minds that even a house wife uses geometry in real life. During her course, she would bring in all kinds of examples of geometry in real life and some of the first words her 4 children spoke were shape recognition - even before colors and then it was color and shape. It was fun! They made bridges out of toothpicks and they had to be sturdy enough to hold up the weight of text books and the one that supported the most weight would win. They did pictures using q tips. I might have comprehend geometry better had it had something beyond the text book involved as I was one who saw no sense in geometry but it was required college prep back then. I have 3 years of high school math and called it quits as I'd had quite enough math.
