Shashing help

Working on this large throw size quilt and was originally planning on using cream colored prints for the sashing, but now that I lay it out I'm not feeling it. Would you use the cream shashing (with colored cornerstones) or switch to either the burgundy or blue for shashing with cream cornerstones.

There will be another border around the whole thing.

The dark burgundy from your carpet looks nice. I think I might try that with your pretty blocks.

What color will your outer border be?

I would sash with burgundy.

If the inner sashing is cream the outer would be burgundy. If the inner is burgundy I might look for a blue for the outer - or maybe cream on the outer if the inner is burgundy.

I am no help here, but this is going to be one beautiful quilt! I love your blocks.

I would try the burgundy and dark blue. The dark blue may work better since it doesn't appear near the edge of the block taking a photo as you go. It takes time but then you can actually see which color works best.

I can see your blocks better with the burgundy from the rug, than with the white. The blocks are so very, very pretty.

I agree with Tartan. If you can find a large scale print that incorporates all 4 colors (like your carpet does), that would be ideal for the sashing. Otherwise I'd probably go with a triad color scheme & pick a deep gold for the sashing (similar to the gold in your carpet). You could go with a solid gold or a small print.

The other option would be a slightly darker shade of one of the colors you have in there. I wouldn't pick the exact fabric because then wherever that fabric touches the sashing, it will meld together as one shape instead of maintaining the piecing design as is.

To me the problem with using burgundy or the blue in the blocks is that the piecing of the blocks 'fades'into the sashing. And if that's not a problem for you, why bother sashing at all?

The triad color to blue and red (burgundy is a red) would be yellow. Maybe a fabric in that color family would work for you.
