She had the nerve to ask me.....

This week I was on Facebook and saw a quilt pattern advertised by Craftsy. I really liked it and made the comment that I was going to order it and give the finished product to someone for Christmas. Another (FB) reader had the nerve to ask me what size the starting block was because once she knew that she could figure out the rest of the pattern. Wrote her back and said she could make the starting block what she wanted. I had PAID for my pattern and the information. The pattern was "Scrapy Trails Quilt"by Carlene Westberg. Was I wrong??

No. You were not wrong. Bravo on your clever reply!

That's an adorable pattern for some recycled shirts, by the way.

No you not wrong. Excellent reply.

Thank you!!!! I publish patterns and respect the copyright laws. I wish more people did what you did. The pattern designers are trying to make a living like everybody else.

I would never ask that either. There are times that I just try to figure patterns out on my own, and it would have to be a very very good friend before I would ask them that

You were exactly right in your response.

I would think that asking a question like that on social media would get HER in trouble. You did the right thing.

I would just say..'pick your battles'

I'm not sure I would have had the nerve to give the answer you did, but I think you did the right thing.

Huh? Doing the right thing is always the way to go. Great reply, lindaschipper! Kudos to you for setting a shining example of how to politely say 'no' in such cases.
