Shhhhh... I'm not supposed to know...

But my husband is getting me a new sewing machine for Christmas. I saw him putting it in layaway today.... Now I will have to act very surprised when I open it. Just wanted to share my good news!! I can't wait to get it!! lol (oh and I know it is a Singer... but thats it!!)

gigi10 11-25-2011 12:24 PM

Good job and when you get it ......brag on him and let him hear you doing it. He will want more of that and then he listens better.

butterjoy 11-25-2011 12:40 PM

Lucky, Lucky you!! When you open the package, shed a few tears and thank him profusely! Put on the happiest face ever :)

mighty 11-25-2011 06:22 PM

Funny you posted this when you did. Last night hubby and I were talking. We don't buy gifts for each other anymore...we would rather see our kids and grandkids get what they need and want. So out of the blue he said I am going to buy you a gift this year. I said NO! Maybe next year but NOT this year. So of course we went back and forth a few times. He knows that I have been saying for months that I am going buy myself a new sewing machine in the spring when I have enough money saved for the one that I want. So jokingly I said okay...if you buy me exactly what I want and he asked...what would that be? I said a Janome 6600 sewing machine and the cost is $1,000.+

He laughed and said...exchanging gifts NEXT year sounds fine with me. LOL

Chances are...no. He just bought me this new laptop back in February when my PC's hard drive bit the dust. Had a problem with it after less than 3 months so took it back to Best Buy...bought the extended warranty originally so everything was covered when they sent it back to HP. But...it took forever so...he bought me a Netbook at Office Max to tie me over till I got THIS back from HP. Well over $1,000. for both of them so I don't think he's going to buy it for me. But everyone CAN keep their fingers crossed because...IF on Christmas Day I WOULD get the machine I'll probably be in the ER after suffering a heart attack from the shock and excitement. lol

I hope everyone who has a new machine on their list for Santa gets what they want. And Jeanne...I don't know HOW you are going to manage the next month knowing that machine is sitting in your home and you can't use it. I'd make little hints like...this old machine is giving me fits and I'm thinking about going shopping and buying another machine next week. I'm sneaky like that...maybe you aren't though. :)

Amythyst02 11-27-2011 04:08 AM

How exciting!! I bet your going to have an awful time waiting til Christmas morning! Be sure to give your hubby lots of hugs after you open it, and oh yea, brag brag about your new gift to everyone!

nanna-up-north 11-27-2011 04:16 AM

I am so happy for you. Your story reminds me of my first Christmas after getting married (46 years ago). I only had my grandmother's treadle and it wasn't in great condition. I wanted a new machine so bad. It was my father-in-law that told my husband to buy me a machine. My mother-in-law never sewed but dear old Pop-pa (RIP) knew how much I loved to sew. I got the machine and my hubby still looks for the old ones for me to fix up and play with. He's a dear about things like that..... thanks to his dad.

Enjoy that machine..... and that great hubby.

sweetpea 11-27-2011 06:00 AM

SherryW 11-27-2011 06:03 AM

Great husband! Nice surprise.

earlori7 11-27-2011 06:17 AM

Lucky you. I keep snooping around, but I haven't seen any mysterious BIG boxes anywhere. Could it be at a friend's house? LOL I have a great husband so if there is no machine under the tree it is alright - as long as there is an AcuQuilt! Joking. Enjoy your new machine. Happy Quilting.

TX GMimi 11-27-2011 08:29 AM

jeanne307 11-27-2011 11:38 AM

Thanks ladies... he is a keeper. We haven't bought gifts for each other in a long time and he decided this year he was buying me a gift lol. I had mentioned to him several times that I would like a sewing machine and a new paper cutter for my cardmaking... and the sewing machine it was lol. Thanks for the tips ladies and I will remember to do all those things.

LindaM49- That is too funny. I guess that would change his mind in a hurry huh? thanks for sharing!!

romanojg 11-27-2011 12:00 PM

Congratulations. The first year my husband and I were married I wanted a sewing machine and had figured out that he was getting me one. I went out and bought a sewing basket filled to the brim with notions. The card on it said; To Mike for Judy. He didn't even notice the card until after he opened it and was puzzled why he got this. I had kept telling him before Christmas that I knew he had gotten me one and he would deny saying I'd be one disappointed person come Christmas morning. This was my way of showing him that I did know. This started a long marriage of where I'd figure out what he got me and then figure out a way to prove it too him once it was opened. If I'd just told him I had known after I opened the present it would have taken all of the fun out of it. Enjoy it and have fun.

frugalfabrics 11-27-2011 12:20 PM

Congrats on the present...maybe he will give it to you early...

claudia 54 11-27-2011 12:37 PM
