In my experience if a foundation fabric is used for a crazy quilt it's just muslin.. and the fabrics used for the top are "dressier" things. silk,, satin, velvet, etc. I've never heard of using chiffon or organza.. I think the chiffon would be too sheer and the organza would be stiff as a board. also the ones I have seen had a backing and were quilted and so the foundation fabric was not seen.

I've seen where chiffon and organza was used over applique to like shadow it. Very pretty. Saw it in a Fons & Porter Book I have.

I have made crazy quilts from after five and prom dresses. The very delicate chiffons were fused to medium Heat N Bond to make them stable. The dresses I used already had a lot of beading and embroidery on them and I incorporated that into my quilts and then when completed I added other decorations such as buttons, lace pieces, charms, etc. I also used almost all of the decorative stitches on my machine on each seam line because I don't do hand embroidery. I have a small memory quilt picture posted on Pictures and will add more pics when my daughter and I figure out why we can't add any more.

I have used organza to soften a very loud fabric. I like the sheen of it.

I guess it would depend on the size and opaqueness of the print. It could act as another dimension to the block. Lay pieces of it over some different fabrics and see if you like any combos. :-D
