Shirt swap question
Is there or has there ever been a 100% cotton shirt swap? I heard one time about swapping shirt sleeves.
1 long sleeve = 1 long sleeve 2 short sleeve = 1 long sleeve Would that be an option here...is anybody interested? |
could you explain what kind of swap this is? I really don't understand, maybe I missed something.

Lots of people buy men's 100% cotton dress shirts and cut them apart to use the fabric in quilts. You can get them at Salvation Army, thrift stores ,yard sales and usually you get really good prices compared to equal amount of fabric from the store. I heard at one time about a swap trading the sleeves to get more variety. Is that clear as mud? If you have anymore questions...feel free to ask.

What fun! I'd be up for it. I have purchased around 50. :D I've started cutting into the red ones for a red chisel "spinner" quilt.

Hi quiltmouse, It doesn't seem like there is too much interest in this. I was sorta hoping someone that hosts other swaps would want to do this one. Maybe give it a little more time and someone will.
You quilt sounds great...please share pics of progress or definitely when done! |
I am making a quilt out of hubby's old shirts and scraps! Don't have any sleeves to swap right now, but maybe later.

grandma23, I just read your OP again, my shirts may be ineligible for your trade, they're the blue collar guys, not the white collar guys. I almost never find a 100% cotton dress shirt that I like the fabric quality of. But those work shirts are generally tough as nails...
But, if you are interested in my blues & tans, are you looking for just "cut off" sleeves, or "cut down" sleeves? I have both. |
If there's not enough interest maybe you could do private swaps with the few who are interested. I think you had a great idea.
