Thanks everyone! You know that before I went to the store on Monday, I was only focused on the Bernina. I guess I thought that Bernina was the best of the best. As the saleslady said, Berninas aren't what they used to be, and by the time I finished sewing on all 3 machines I had to agree with her. I just fell in love with the Baby Lock, the features, the way it sewed, the embroidery function, etc were all way above the Bernina and the Janome. But of course, I paid more for the Baby Lock too.

Janome and Baby Lock are made the the same company. I believe it's Brother making both Janome and Baby Lock. They both are higher-end machines and good quality. There is, somewhere on this board, a wonderful current history of manufacturers, who bought whom over the past decades, and who makes what. I will search for it. It sounds like it's time it was posted again for anyone looking for help in choosing a new machine.
