Well, it appears that each time the girls and I make quilts we have been ending up with at least one block extra - probably because we change the layout and add additional different blocks. So far we have not completely followed any pattern all the way through the way it was written.

My DIL wants us to make a quilt of all of the extra blocks and keep adding to it. So, now we are being sure we make an extra block. Once we get enough together, we'll start assembling. It should be really interesting, as one of them uses what I consider garish combinations (such as the blue and black zebra stripes with a lime green and purple spotted leopard spot), one is ultra-conservative in her colors. I am kinda in the middle, liking the warm colors.

I'll warn you ladies before I show it in progress. Heaven help the poor person who ends up with this creation!

Oh, the retirement countdown is now 14 weeks!!!!! YEAH!

Nina, the quilt sounds interesting but I do wish you'd quit bragging about retirement girl! I'll probably have to work till I'm 80! LOL
Congrats anyway!

 I have a similar stash of blocks! When I see a pattern I like, or a new technique I'd like to remember and use in a later quilt, I make up a "sample" block just to see how it "feels". I have dozens of mis-matched, odd-colored and sized blocks I will eventually need to do SOMETHING with. I've always had the idea that I would stich them together any-which-way and see what comes of it!

Nina I look forward to seeing your quilt :D It will be full of all of the memories of your quilting time together :D :D

Congrats on your countdown to more time to quilt!!!!

Not actually bragging, but more that I just that I can't believe it, especially since it means that I'm a lot older physically than I feel (on most days). I refuse to bow down to that. I fought limitations while we were in New Mexico in August - found that the Aleve pain killers were my best friend. Can't sit at a desk everyday and then go on an adventure without paying the cost. But I think it was worth it. Did things I had never done before and loved it!

Someone once told me that she uses Christmas fabrics when she is trying out a block. That way, they will eventully all fit together in a Holiday quilt.

Great Idea about using Christmas Fabric. Why didn't I think of that HEHE
But you can bet it will be on my todo list. Marge
