I am 60 and just starting quilting again after 20 years of not sewing.. I'm currently making one for one of my grandsons. I am using the snowball pattern.

WOW; I had no idea there were so many variations of the I Spy. Thank you all for sharing your ideas and your pictures!! I hope to get started on it soon!

I would have reservations about making this particular quilt for a child with his problems, surely the multitude of colour etc would only cause him more anxiety and probably increase his ocd if he couldn't find a particular picture etc.

Wow, this is the prettiest setting for an I Spy that I've seen yet, CoalTownQuilter!

I finally finished the I Spy for my son. It took me awhile to finish it because I life has been busy and I have been extra achey. There were a couple of wonderful ladies on this board (you know who you are) that send me some I spy fabrics that I say I truly thank you. They told me to post pic when finished, so here we go. I also thought about what a few of you said about not making the I spy too busy as it might not help my son's anxiety and such. He loves it! Thank again for all of you who posted pics of your I Spy quilts! As always; the board rocks!

I really like the Mason or bug jar quilt. Very cute! You know your son best, but I would agree with another member that some of the patterns are a little chaotic. The ones without any separation between blocks are just too much for me to take. I think the patterns with a border are easier on the eyes and easier to find the favorite items in the quilt. Have fun and have your son help pick out some of the blocks. Kids enjoy the fabrics as much as we do.

I did this for my grandson. The reverse was a play mat.
