Shows or Shops? VT and NH vacation

First week of September we are headed through Vermont to the White Mts in NH. I have no particular route, so I'd be open to hearing about any quilt shows or great shops we could stop at on our travels. My DH will be hiking, so I should have LOTS of free time to look around.

thanks for any ideas!

There's always Keepsake Quilting in Center Harbor NH. Not too far out of the way of where you'll be. Lots to see there, could spend many hours.

The online version of the Quilters' Travel Companion has shows and shops (and a whole lot more) listed by state and province. I assume the printed version has more entries, but this will give you a good selection nonetheless.
NH shows http://quilterstravelcompanion.com/q...uilt-shows.php
VT shows http://quilterstravelcompanion.com/q...uilt-shows.php

A couple lists of NH shops:
http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...ilt-shops.html
http://www.yellowpages.com/laconia-n...rials+Supplies
and VT shops
http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...n-vermont.html

It's often best to verify that shops on lists like these are actually still in business and/or still located where listed. The one listed in Northwood on the first NH list, for instance, has gone out of business, and the #16 shop on the second NH list has gone to online sales only, no brick and mortar any longer.

Enjoy your trip to northern New England. :)

May be too late but the Bennington quilt show is Sept 14 and 15

The famous Jane Stickle (Dear Jane) quilt will be on display at the Bennington Museum from August 31 through October 14

There are loads of cute quilt shops in Vt. while the shop hop is long over, you can still utilize their list to do your own

There are other shops not on the list, like Norton House in Wilmington.

Do you have a predefined route that you will be taking? I know that many of us have favorite shops up here. Ghost has given you a great link as to shops and locations. Three shops listed on that list in NH are closed: Peggies Anns in Concord NH, Checkerberries in Northwood and Apple Tree in Hillsborough NH. There is another not listed in the NH list in Newport NH - Quilters Workshop.

In VT there is also Country Treasures in Chester, VT.

My absolute favorites are Quilted Threads in Henniker, NH and Keepsake Quilting in Center Harbor NH.

Here is a google map. I did VT shops - so the balloons are VT shops - but the red dots all over NH represents some sort of quilting businesses - many fabric shops. Just change the criteria to quilt shops NH and the balloons will change!

Let us know your route so we can be of more assistance!!

I know Keep sake has been mentioned , but this is a must see at least one! FYI - preshop in the catalog. I was there and was disappointed one of the fabrics in the catalog was not in the shop. ( fyi- the catalog is run form a different location). They shipped it to me , no charge for postage. They do have the "Outlet" store right next to the main shop, make sure you visit if you go.

don't forget the Shelburne Museum in VT has a GREAT quilt collection. Just south of Burlington.

Wow, wonderful! Thank you so much, I'll keep taking suggestions until we leave on Labor Day weekend--no, no route necessarily, I'll plan to go to as many as I can though!

The best quilt shop I ever went to is in Chester, VT. Country Treasures. Don't miss it. Also if you have an I phone or IPad search for the ap. Quilt Shops. It gives them all in any area you're in.
