I plan to SID around some pieced flowers (Pam Bono design) and do a diagonal grid for the background.

Is it best to do the SID, then the grid or the opposite? Or does it not really matter?

Thanks in advance.

I would SID first. That way the centers are stablized.

I like to SID first too, stabilize as big an area as I can and then go for the rest of it :D:D:D

yup- stablize first (sid) then do your background quilting.

I find that if I SID around the applique first, then when I stitch the background grid my needle will almost "fall" into the SID stitching for backtracking when I am ready to stitch back the other direction to make another line of the grid.
