Side light
Has Anyone made a sidelight for their long our machine. I am having so much trouble with Whiting I thought this might be a good thing to try

I have not encountered this issue yet, but, Quilters Apothocary has a tutorial if you’re in need of one. I do hear they help a lot!

I "stole" a work light from my husband's shop and clamped it to the side of my longarm table. Comes in very handy when I'm quilting white on white or a busy fabric and I need to see where I have already quilted. I turn off my overhead lights, turn on the work light which throws a shadow showing me where I have already been. Works great for me.

I also just use a plug in under counter light. It's similar to this:
https://www.amazon.com/GE-Linkable-C...+light+plug+in I attached it to the side of my frame but found that it is much more effective just laying it on the quilt and moving it around as needed. My frame is near a window and sometimes I turn off all the machine lights and sometimes not. Just need to experiment a bit. |
I have one of these Ikea lights clamped to each side of the handlebars. The cords run across the top of the sewing head to meet the Innova's electric cord, and all 3 are tied together to reach the surge protector

I have a backlight that I put on my machine...also turning off overheads helps...that's if using white thread on white background.....

As mentioned by tallchick the light Jamie Wallen demonstrates is great. I asked my husband to make me one. I use it about 90% of the time. Before I got this light, I would have to run my hand over the quilted areas to know which areas had already been quilted. (I like to blend my threads plus some fabrics are SO busy).
I do have a black light but have never used it because of how much I like the side light. |
