What kinds of pens or markers does everyone use when doing these quilts? I was told by someone that hey use a Jelly roll. Well when I went to Joanns and asked for a Jelly Roll Fabric marker the lady took me to the scrap book isle. She handed me a Gelly Roll pen that says it's waterproof. That was the only thing she could think of. Well I've had some issues. I wrote on a couple different pieces of fabric. Ironed it then washed and it seemed like it faded on all of them. One of them it completely washed out on. So what do you suggest? I'll put a pic of the block up also. They are writing on the yellow squares.

I use Pigma micropens which come in many colors and several different sizes (0.5, 0.8, etc.) Have never had any issues with fading or running after heat setting and then washing.

Where can you get the Pigma Micropens? Are they available in Wally World or do you have to get them from a fabric shop?

I like the blocks, nice and exotic with the (..zebra ..?) print.

I get my pigma pens at my local quilting store.

our wally world and jo ans carry then. have never had them fade or wash out. like the largest tip best for fabric.

The Gelly Roll pens are made my the same company. I wonder whats different about them. I call the LQS tomorrow and see if they have them.

I have always used the Pigma pens. I do know there is a difference in the ink, but can't remember what the difference is.

I also use a Pigma pen and have never had an issue with them. Just remember to heat set it!

I use any pen with pigma ink. It is permanent. I use the gelly roll pens, from the scrapbook aisle, a lot and haven't had any issues. I do not use the glitter ones or the ones that go on in one color and you "erase" it and a second color appears. I also use any fabric marker. I do not use the Sharpie markers as they bleed too easily. Again, I heat set everything first before washing.

I can get the Pigma pens cheaper at my local art sotre than my LQS.

I've found them at Michaels & my LQS has them. JoAnns may have them, I just have never looked. My Walmart did not even have any for scrapbooking, much less for writing on fabric.
