Hey quilters -- does anyone use those Silicone Iron Rests? Joanne has them on sale right now for around $8 BUT our Hancock fabrics had them for 25 CENTS -- that's right a mere quarter. I asked the gal if they were safe if your iron sat on it for long periods of time and she said they sure were. Why did I buy 8? Because our guild puts together goody bags that we use for monthly fun raisers. She puts in things like small notions, FQs, patterns and such. They are going to be so happy to see these in their bags this month!

cool, never used that yet, let me know how you like yours
|
I've had mine for several years and it's still in good shape.
|
I just Love it! It makes ironing a lot easier for me!! It is one of my most used quilting gadget.
|
Great deal!! I never find sales like that.
|
Good eye. Good job. And you thought of others right away. Nice. I haven't used one so I can't say./Regards, Dorothy

Great find. What are they? What are they used for? This is probably a really dumb question but I've never heard of them.
|
They are shaped like the bottom of your iron. Made of heavy silicone to withstand high heat. You may have seen silicone oven mitts or the thinner sheets for your oven. When you are pressing a lot of pieces you can just rest your iron on the mat. I haven't tried it yet but others seem to think it's great so it's worth a try for a quarter.

I haven't heard of them either.

Our Hancocks closed years ago, darn it. I would love to have one of those! Guess I will have to use a coupon at JA's.
|
i bought one, i tossed it, cant put a warm iron on it. it melted. too dangerous.
|
I have one sewn into my ironing board cover and love it.
|
Gee, you should have bought more and sold them to us! I would love one!
You could make a few bucks  |
Sorry, a double post.
I only have a regular metal one. |
I have to go back today to return an ironing board cover. It has been so difficult trying to find one to fit my board as it is extra wide --20" doesn't fit. I will look to see if they have any more left since today starts their sale. If there are I'll pick them up and let you know. They are kind of heavy though. Postage could be expensive.

I bought one when they were $1.00 at Hancocks. I gave it to my daughter to rest her hair straightner on. It had gotten so hot that it left a burn mark on her bathroom counter. I wish I would have found this before. I now am probably going to have to buy a new countertop for her rented apartment!!!!!!!

What a great deal. You were in the right place at the right time.
