so many people have been talking about the slider and other thing that they use to help your quilt slide better while you do your FMQ...

my question is what do you do if your machine is not in a sewing table and it sits higher then the table it is on..

what do you use to make your machine level with the table? Do you put something around it? I don't have a extension table that would fit around my machine...and they cost to much...any ideas would be great ...Thanks

there is a tutorial on here that the lady used and made her own extension table using the foam insulation cut to fit around her machine. Of course if you had a talented hubby he could cut a hole in the table for your machine to sit in. Or maybe you can't cut the table is dining room one. I will look and see if I can find it.

I like the idea of how she did that. The only problem I would forsee would be that it makes the whole surface so much higher.

I'd like to find a way to set mine into my sewing desk and have it be able to come up when I needed to use it with the embroidery unit.

I saw one made very cheaply - she just used an old cabinet door and foam noodles like for the pool. I wish I could find where I saw it but maybe hubby or you could come up with something. I'm single so I trade a single friend a home coked meal for fixing things once in a while. I'm very into bartering.

I found a cabinet for $1 at The Salvation Army Store, but before that I did one quilt with a yard of JoAnn's heaviest vinyl over some hard cover books stacked to to the height of my quilting machine. It actually worked quite well.
