Silk and wool quilt help

Okay, coaches, what now. I have made a Daddy's Ties quilt from our late son-in-laws ties. Have used his wool blazer and a grey pair of pants for the borders. Now, it needs to be cleaned. Can it be washed or should I send it to the dry cleaners? Believe me cutting silk ties is not easy. I made the dresden plate with 44 pieces in the middle. I do not think that I would do another one.
Thank you for any help.
Lynne

Did you prewash the ties and wool? If not, I would take this one to the dry cleaners.

Wool and silk .. send to the cleaners.

If you have any leftover scraps, wash and see how they react. I have found wool to shrink and also extremely heavy when wet. Some silks spot when you get them wet.

Another vote for the dry cleaner. The quilt is too precious to take a chance.

Dry clean. Would love to see a picture!

If you prewashed you should be able to get away with a gentle hand wash. If not try the drycleaners. Be sure and air it well if you go the dry-cleaning route....the stuff they use is pretty toxic and can cause headaches/allergic response in some people.
